Navigator - Changing Vessel Name

Modified on Thu, 22 Feb, 2024 at 12:25 PM

Sometimes, a vessel will no longer belong to a specific client, and will then be owned by a new client. Let's say the new client has given the vessel a new name. Here's what you do:

1) Make sure you have the IMO number for that vessel. While the name of the vessel can change, the IMO number does not change.

2) Search for the Vessel via the IMO number in the Vessels section of the Navigator Back Office.

3) If found, right-click on the vessel and click on Change Vessel Name. A box will open saying how many active orders there are, with a text input for the Vessel Name. Put in the Vessel Name there.

4) Toggle the Assign new vessel to new clients button to on and assign the new client to it.

5) Once done, click on notify the requester and continue.

A new vessel will now be made, with the new name and client. The old vessel will now appear as red not be usable anymore. It will show the date where the vessel (in red) was created and when the change was made- then, that changed date will be used as the creation date for the new vessel name.
